It’s all action on the Westown Square site, as preparations get underway for pouring the level 2 concrete slab.
This will be done using COFFER SLAB CONSTRUCTION, a technique used to create a pattern of trough-like shapes in a concrete ceiling or floor – that looks much like an upside-down ice tray!
Just as an ice tray has individual sunken compartments in its raised frame, a coffer slab has sunken compartments known as coffers and raised areas called beams. The beams span in two directions to help carry the load of the concrete slab and add strength, and the compartments between the beams reduce the weight of the structure and require a lot less cement.
